College & Career Center Calendar
Events currently being scheduled for the 2024-2025 School Year
Seniors
Group Guidance: The College & Career Counselor will meet with seniors through English classes between August 28 - September 12th. This presentation will focus on post-secondary options, especially the college application process. Powerpoint and handouts will be posted in mid-September on Google classroom and main CCC page.
Essay Writing Workshop: Free essay writing workshop for seniors who have to write a college application essay. Run by a college admissions representative. Scheduled for September 17th, 3rd hour. See flyer and register here.
College Admissions Rep Visits at PNHS: College reps will be visiting North to meet with seniors in the months of September and October. Visits will be 30 minutes on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the lunch periods in room 300. Seniors can sign up through Naviance (some visits require a QR code sign up). Juniors who want to visit with reps can email Mrs. Kalantzis to be added to the list. See schedule here.
College Fair at PNHS: October 2nd, 6:30-8PM. 130 college reps will attend, in addition to a financial aid presentation in English and Spanish. List of colleges and registration info TBA. See flyer here.
JJC College Fair: JJC will have their annual college fair in October with over 150 colleges/universities present to meet with families. www.jjc.edu
JJC Open House: Joliet Junior College will offer their annual Discover JJC Open House event in November for admitted seniors or students still interested in attending. www.jjc.edu

Joliet Junior College Admissions Workshop: December and February. More info TBA.
Scholarship Workshops: Monthly workshops Dec-February. Register in Google classroom.
HBCU College Fair/Awareness Event: We will have D202 annual Historically Black Colleges and Universities Event on February 25th, 2025 from 6-8PM. More info TBA.
Counselor pop-ins: Counselors will pop into English classes in early May to have seniors complete their required graduation surveys.
Juniors
College Fair at PNHS: October 2nd, 6:30-8PM. 130 college reps will attend, in addition to a financial aid presentation in English and Spanish. List of colleges and registration info TBA. See flyer here.

College Planning Night for Juniors: This is our annual district event for junior families on March 26th, 2025 at 6PM. We will have private and public university admissions personnel speak on the college application process, the admissions process, and what juniors should be doing now. More info TBA.
Sophomores
JJC College Fair: JJC will have their annual college fair in October with over 150 colleges/universities present to meet with families.
Semester 1 Group Guidance Presentation: Counselors will visit 10th grade English classes in December to review college planning and career research in School Links. Presentation will be uploaded afterward.
Semester 2 Counselor LSH Visits: Counselors will visit the sophomore study halls in March to do more career planning activities in School Links. TBA.

Freshmen
Student Services Presentation: End of August. PE classes will come to the auditorium for a presentation by the counselors about Student services and support.
Counselor Study Hall Visits: Counselors will visit the 9th grade study halls in January to review important high school information, college, and career planning. Students will also complete an activity in School Links about their interests that relate to future careers. Presentation will be uploaded afterward.
