District 202 and the Plainfield Parent Community Network (PPCN) are hosting a free Back to School Fair featuring speakers, more than 60 family resource vendors, and food trucks.
The fair is from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, August 2, at Plainfield High School-Central Campus, 24120 W. Fort Beggs Drive.
The event is open to parents or guardians of children ages 3 to 22. Attendees are encouraged to bring donations for the Bags of Hope backpack food program.
More than 60 area resource providers will be on site to discuss their services for families in areas including tutoring, advocacy/legal, counseling, grief, recreation, family, and disability services.
“Plainfield is so rich with resources for families that this is a great opportunity to highlight what those resources are and how families can access them,” said Tim Albores, Director of Student Services – High School and AD/Alternative Programs at District 202.
Other events at the fair include:
The Hidden in Plain Sight Trailer will be open for viewing. The trailer is set up like a child’s room and will show parents where they might hide drugs.
Speaker Caden Vittorini will present “Building Your Child’s Confidence” at 9 a.m
The District 202 Adverse Childhood Experiences or ACES Committee will present about the impact of trauma at 10 a.m.
