College & Career

Mrs. Kalantzis, College and Career Counselor, works with the Counselors to provide students assistance and support in making post-high school plans.  The process is ongoing throughout high school, and includes individual appointments and group guidance focusing on career exploration, college/military/trade school planning, the financial aid process, and scholarship searches.

PNHS students are using School Links for college and career information. View parent/guardian info letters in English or Spanish for details about this tool to help your child be successful after graduation from District 202.

Updated information is posted on the PNHS website and in the grade level Google Classrooms.

AUGUST:

Brief Parent Info Session on the College Application Process - There will be a brief 25-minute presentation for senior parents on Curriculum night, Aug. 20th at 6PM (during the early bird time slot). Mrs. Kalantzis will cover the basics of the college application process, including the application, transcripts, letters of rec, essay, and financial aid/scholarships. Freshman Group Guidance - The counselors will meet with all 9th graders through Wellness classes on Thursday, August 20th. They will share important high school information such as graduation requirements, support services, extracurricular activies, and SchooLinks college and career resource. View presentation here.

Senior Group Guidance - Mrs. Kalantzis will visit all Senior English classes between Aug. 27-Sept.3 to review post-secondary planning which included the college application process.

SEPTEMBER:

College application essay writing workshop - Monday, Sept. 14th during 6th hour. Run by a college admissions professional and held in the auditorium. Seniors can sign up through SchooLinks>Events.

Walk-In Wednesdays - The College and Career Center will have open office hours during lunch periods 4-7 every Wednesday from Sept. 9th-Oct.28th. Students can work on college applications and get on hand support.

College rep visits - Once per week on Tues/Thurs in Sept/Oct, we will have college representatives visit to meet with juniors and seniors. This will be held in the media center and students must sign up through SchooLinks>Events.
